Honouring our past

Former presidents

The leaders who built NIDO South Korea and handed on the baton. We stand on their shoulders.

Chima J. Nwike Jnr

2011 - 2015

A businessman in the import and export sector, Chima J. Nwike Jnr served as president from 2011 to 2015. He was instrumental in overhauling NIDO South Korea into the organisation it is today, laying much of the structure and direction the community still builds on.

Valentine Nnubia

2017 - 2021

With a background in technology, Valentine Nnubia led NIDO South Korea from 2017 to 2021, bringing a modern, forward-looking outlook to the organisation and serving the community throughout his tenure.

Ndukwu Donald Chiemeka

2021 - 2025

An entrepreneur in the import and export business, Ndukwu Donald Chiemeka served as president from 2021 to 2025, leading the organisation and serving Nigerians across Korea throughout his term.

Roles & responsibilities

What each office does

Every officer holds a clear mandate in the service of the membership.

President

Provides overall leadership, represents NIDO South Korea externally, and chairs the executive council.

Vice President

Deputises for the President, supports overall leadership and coordinates the executive council.

Secretary General

Heads the secretariat — keeps official records and minutes, manages correspondence, and coordinates the executive council.

Assistant General Secretary

Supports the Secretary General with records, minutes and official correspondence.

Treasurer

Custodian of the association funds; oversees dues and ticket income and reports the finances to the membership.

Financial Secretary

Oversees dues and financial records, and reports transparently to the membership.

Assistant Financial Secretary

Supports the Financial Secretary in tracking dues, payments and records.

Social Secretary

Plans and coordinates community events, gatherings and celebrations.

Assistant Social Secretary

Supports the Social Secretary in organising events and member activities.

Welfare Secretary

Coordinates welfare support and reviews members welfare requests, and reports to the executive.

Public Relations Officer

Manages announcements, publicity and the public image of NIDO South Korea.

Assistant P.R.O

Supports communications, publicity and member outreach.

Chief Whip

Maintains order and discipline, and mobilises members for meetings and key decisions.

Assistant Chief Whip

Supports the Chief Whip in coordinating and mobilising members.

The executive is elected by the whole membership through a general election held every two years — every member has a voice.

Officers serve defined two-year terms and remain accountable to the community throughout.
